Car is packed, bikes are loaded, hand sanitizer galore.. off we go! Head out on N1 and towards the famous R62, dotted with interesting quirky towns and some amazing country hospitality.
If you wanted to travel on the N2, you will be passing Hooikraal Butchery, where you can stop for coffee and stock up on some excellent deli items.
The Lodge turnoff is after Barrydale and the more adventurous can take the back route from Riversdale – enjoy stunning scenery.
Check into the Lodge, where you are able to park right next to the Chalet, with views of the watering hole.
Day Two – hit the trail!
Hikers, bikers and 4×4 drivers are spoilt for choice with a range of routes from the more prosaic, to the adventurous, to the bone crunching. A few hours of wandering through the lush vegetation and enjoying the spectacular views, perhaps enjoying a picnic at a quiet spot along the way, will restore a harried soul.
Day Three – Olive Tour &Tasting
There is a walking trail around the olive grove, but a tour of the state-of-the-art olive processing plant is really something special. The tour is followed by a tasting, while olives and olive oil are for sale. (Tours to be booked in advance).
