Join Keith Connelly on this private guided Wildlife Photographic Safari to witness The Great Migration. With hundreds of thousands of calving Wildebeest crossing the Serengeti between December and May, The Great Migration is one of the seven new wonders of the world and for 8 days you get close and create memories that will last a life time.

On this Photographic Safari, you will experience an abundance of wildlife, witness a spectacular event, all brought closer through photographic expertise and under the tutorship of Keith Connelly. Expect plenty of photo opportunities with sunrise and sunset game drives daily. Enjoy comfortable four star accommodation and excellent African hospitality during your Safari.
Consisting mainly of sweeping grasslands, the Ndutu area in the northern part of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area joins the Serengeti. As such, it forms part of the annual migratory route of hundreds of thousands of wildebeest, zebra and antelope (and their predators) who come to graze and calve.
The forests around Lake Ndutu and small koppies are also home to prolific, resident wildlife. The Ndutu area covers just over 8 000km2 and includes the Ngorongoro Crater, the Olduvai Gorge, forests, mountains and the vast plains of Ndutu stretching to Serengeti (unfenced). From December to May (depending on the rains), the plains of Ndutu are populated by huge herds of wildebeest, zebra and antelope as they settle on the fertile grasslands to calve.

As is expected of nature, the predators come in droves too, feasting on the vulnerable young. It’s a smorgasbord of wildlife and the natural circle of life. All six cat species can be found in the area all year – lion, leopard, cheetah, caracal, serval and African wildcat. Resident game that don’t follow migration include giraffe, elephant, hyena and antelope which tend to concentrate around the waterholes. For photographic adventurers of all levels, this is the opportunity to capture some of nature’s most extraordinary moments.

Guests start their Photographic Safari with a warm welcome at the airport, transfer to Rivertrees Country Inn for an overnight in Arusha. The inn is a charming country estate that was once an old coffee farm, and still retains the nostalgic air of a well-loved homestead. Sprawling ten acres of fertile greenery, the grounds are a natural extension of Mt Meru’s sloping foothills, and offer a sanctuary for the birds and wildlife indigenous to the area.
The next day, refreshed and after a hearty breakfast guests head to the airport for a flight to Ndutu, arriving just in time for lunch and an afternoon game drive, camera in hand!
Rise and shine…early morning game drives make for the best photography! The rest of the days are spent tracking wildlife at sunrise and sunset between Ndutu Lake Masek and southern Serengeti. Guests are transported in a comfortable Safari vehicle with a professional Bush guide and Keith Connelly on hand to ensure the ultimate photographic experience for all. Photographers of all levels are welcome on this Safari. After each sunrise photo session, guests head back to the camp where Keith will facilitate image downloads, photo reviews and offer professional guidance in an informal and relaxed setting where each person gets to share and discuss their images. Afternoons are relaxed and guests have lots of leisure time, to enjoy wonderful African hospitality, gourmet meals and drinks. As these camps are built using eco and sustainable practices, with little interference to nature, it is also not uncommon for wildlife to pass through these beautiful camps and many animals visit Lake Masek in search of water, what a privilege!
