Matt comes from one of the most adventurous countries on the planet, New Zealand (admittedly, there isn’t much else to do so he had to entertain himself with every adrenaline inducing activity you can think of.)

Matt has been passionate about the outdoors for as long as he can remember, he spent his childhood as a boy scout, going caving and exploring from an early age.

He likes to think of himself as a born again African- he’s been visiting Africa for over 20 years and has backpacked all the way from Cape Town to Nairobi. Having developed strategy for one of the world’s biggest airlines, Emirates, he of all people understands what the traveler wants.

Tribal Tourist is Matt’s brainchild, and was born out of his own frustration when planning trips in Africa. He found the process extremely time consuming, and realized that there was a need to consolidate all relevant information on one website, which will eventually be the biggest adventure travel website in Africa.

A true citizen of the universe who lost her heart on an Indian Ocean island known as Unguja or Zanzibar as we know it. In fact, she loved it so much that after 20 years of International Brand Management in the Travel Retail Sector, she knew it was time to venture beyond the Duty Free shops, shelves and actually leave the Airport Terminal building. Feet firmly on the soft white sands of the Indian Ocean shores since 2009, Michelle, through her passion for travel, spices and island hideaways has been known for helping politicians, ambassadors, celebrities and wired corporates rediscover their mojo… albeit under a coconut tree, cocktail in hand.

Simon is as eccentric as it gets. He’s lived in Kenya for 26 years and is the go to person for private guided safari trips in East Africa. With an honours degree in Zoology from London University, Simon talks the talk and walks the (bush) walk.

Unlike most teenagers, Simon spent his teens obsessed with a different type of bird, and travelled the globe birding, visiting Africa, the Middle East and Europe. He then pursued an advertising career in London, but wasn’t able to travel as much as he used to. He jumped at the opportunity to move to Kenya when he was given the chance to, and explored every inch of Africa, getting professional guide qualifications along the way through the KPSGA.

Since then, he has followed his heart in leading many birding & natural history expeditions everywhere from Kenya to Rwanda and now guides wildlife safaris full time in East Africa, which he has been doing for the past 12 years.

Simon has been directly involved in supporting key conservation projects in Laikipia & the Mara to ensure that key habitats & their unique diverse fauna & flora will remain for generations ahead.

Kelley has lived in Kampala, Uganda since 1991. She came to Africa as a dentist working with a faith based organization and fell in love with the beauty and splendor of Uganda, the husband and kids followed.

Kelley was asked in 1994 to come and manage a tour company. On the strength of “I’ve booked my own ticket with continent”, she was offered the job that set her life path.

“Tourism is not only my vocation, it is my passion”

With a busy office in downtown Kampala and two teenagers, she does not lead as many safaris as she once did, but she still finds time to travel about the country regularly as well as work with conservation organistations like Rhino Fund Uganda and Uganda Wildlife Education Center, where she’s a board member. She also works with the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham Uganda) and consults on tourism issues.

No one knows Uganda like she does!
