Share in the excitement as your kids see wild animals roam the African plains for the first time before three days of family fun on the shores of exotic Zanzibar. You’ll start out in the safari capital of Tanzania, the small town of Arusha, where you can stretch your legs and let the kids play off the long flights. From here it’s time to start your adventure with a game drive through the verdant valley of Lake Manyara National Park. The kids will love the monkeys and the flamingos on the lake. It’s hard to believe that it’s just a pit stop on the way to the Ngorongoro Crater. The mere sight of it has fired imaginations of young and old alike for generations, the imposing walls and the wildlife paradise they encircle and protect. See zebra, wildebeest, lion or rhino through the eyes of your children and join in asking the guide a million questions. Next stop is the Serengeti National Park, meaning “endless plains” in the Maasai language, undoubtedly one of the world’s most celebrated wilderness areas. It is Tanzania’s oldest game reserve, renowned as the site of the annual Great Migration, when an estimated three million antelope – mostly wildebeest — migrate to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve. This epic, seasonal journey is a deeply moving experience and a wonderful photographic subject. Visitors to the park can roam its sprawling plains on exhilarating game drives. The last stop on the memorable family adventure is Zanzibar where you will stay in an absolutely beautiful beachfront resort. Here you can enjoy the seemingly endless stretches of beach, swim with dolphins, or go on a fishing excursion. A myriad of activities are available in a spacious, air-conditioned club house – the kids can perfect their Swahili, take bicycles around the property, compete in volley ball tournaments, and play hide and seek while you slip away and enjoy a tantalizing spa treatment.

Stay on a working coffee farm in Arusha in colonial-style luxury. The family cottage has two bedrooms, a separate lounge with fireplace and en suite bathrooms with deep tubs and refreshing showers. The gardens on which the lodge is set are peaceful and dinner will be an affair to remember.

Reminiscent of a country farm with quaint Cape Dutch-style architecture, accommodation at Ngorongoro Crater lies within the Shangri-La estate, surrounded by lovely gardens amidst the natural splendor of Tanzania. The family cottage boasts beautiful rooms, en suite bathrooms, an indoor and outdoor fireplace and a private deck.

In the Serengeti, the camp is an oasis of 5-star luxury within one of the world’s most magical settings. The family tent is really a family suite with two tents linked by a short bridge to create a private and spacious area. Each tent boasts 120sqm of luxurious living space, providing ample room to wander at leisure, sink into a deck lounger, soak in your private hot tub or gaze out at passing wildlife.

In Zanzibar, the palatial ocean front villa sits among a lush, forested 32-hectare estate where five-star luxuries sit harmoniously alongside nature’s untouched beauty. The spacious villa is an idyllic retreat for families. The large living room opens onto a private pool and deck furnished with table and chairs, daybed and sun loungers.
